Process Book: THUMM Bookazine

Project Type: Bookazine | 28 pages
Deliverables: Printed bookazine, brand identity, custom assets
Creative Brief
Create a 28 page bookazine about the history of mainstream bands, in this case Depeche Mode, using exiting articles, photos, and other assets that must be original.
Brainstorming and Research
For this project, I thought about what I wanted to make a bookazine about since there were so many topics to pick from. After much thought, I decided that I would go with having a bookazine be about the history of mainstream bands (Depeche Mode, Muse, Maroon 5, and so on with each band having their own issue. However, I wanted this bookazine be both visually engaging and informative about the band in question which lead to me picking a grunge aesthetic because of how loud and fun it is to look at. Below are what I researched and brainstormed of certain aspects of my bookazine.

Evaluation
Through the entire project, I did my best to make the best-looking magazine I could do since the last one from last semester was not that great to say the least. I am happy with the results that I made with this new one but work and other projects was not kind to me when it comes to having time on working on this project. I did what I could to make this one look good and have all the necessary pages needed to make this bookazine. I can say the content gathering was much easier than the other magazine I did mostly due to the fact that Depeche Mode is widely popular and have all the necessary content I need to make this one. I did have fun with the photo editing and hand drawn grunge aesthetics because it is something I am not used to doing that often which gave me a bit of a challenge to make them for the bookazine. Doing some of the graphical elements on the iPad is a lot more easy to do than doing it on my laptop since, for some reason, my desktop version of Photoshop was freaking out on me when I tried to use the grunge brushes I downloaded from the official Adobe blog. Even so, I managed to get it done on time. Hopefully the final project is a bit more chill than this one.
All the written content and photos belong to their respective owners. Photo edits and visuals are done by me.
